Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej Now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to receive a score of 10 at the Olympic event. Bela Karrolyi, a Romanian gymnastics teacher who was later Comaneci's coach and first became aware of Comaneci aged six. At first, she competed in the national junior championships in Romania in 1969 she placed 13th. Then in the year 1970, she the Romanian gymnast won. At her first international event in 1972 a pre-Olympic junior competition for communist-bloc nations she won three gold medals. In 1973 and 1974 she became an the all-around junior champion. In her very first competition at the senior level, Lyudmila Turkishcheva, a Russian athlete, won five gold medals aswell being awarded a silver. In 1976, she became the world's first woman who used a double backwards salto to dismount from the parallel bars. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Her path into the entertainment industry began during her teens when she started performing as a figure skater alongside her younger sibling Nina Wayne as part of the traveling entertainment shows that were known as Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne, born in Chicago Illinois US on 6 September 1942. Carol started her career as an entertainer when she was a teenager. She began her career as figure skater performing with her younger sister Nina Wayne as part of the shows that traveled around known as Ice Capades. The shows featured skaters who were accompanied by theatrical music.
